Authentic Ancient Roman Intaglio - Carausius and Allectus - Brown Stone - 3rd. Century A.D.

This is a STUNNING authentic Roman intaglio made out of brown stone.

It depicts the jugate busts of Roman usurpers Carausius and Allectus and consequently can be dated to have been made between 286 and 293 A.D. thus making it some 1750 years old!

It is in STUNNING, original condition and was unearthed at a dig site in the ancient Roman province of Moesia which roughly corresponds to parts of Serbia and Bulgaria in the Balkan region, Eastern Europe, an area where the Romans often went to war to subdue the East Celts.

Holding this artifact in one's hands, one can almost feel the power, glory and might of the Roman Empire!

Everybody can go to the shopping mall and simply pick a new piece of jewelry out of enormous stocks of freshly made items but how many of you have ever given (or gotten!) a present to a near or dear one with such history embedded into it, such character, the patina of 1750 years battling the elements and so unique that there is truly only ONE of it in the world?

Imagine that 1750 years ago, a Roman citizen had this intaglio commissioned to be set in a ring of his choice...

Wouldn't it be great if some 1750 years later, this process would be repeated and you would commission you local goldsmith to make you a ring featuring this 1750 years old artifact?

We qualify this intaglio as original, unrestored in near mint condition.

It measures 18.47 x 21.91 mm and weighs 3.54 grams.

PLEASE NOTE:
This is NOT a copy of any kind. This is an authentic 1750 year old piece!
